Physical Therapist
Sofie earned her BS in Athletic Training from Purdue University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University. She completed an orthopedic residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital/George Washington University and is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. Sofie is also an ABPTRFE Fellowship Graduate in Performing Arts Physical Therapy from Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she developed community programs at the Peabody Institute and Baltimore School for the Arts to promote artist health and wellness. She continues to participate in research projects focused on dance wellness and rehabilitation.
A native of Oak Park, Sofie grew up dancing at the Academy of Movement and Music, taking figure skating lessons at Ridgeland Commons, and performing in musicals at OPRF. Her clinical interests include the rehabilitation and wellness of adolescent performers, with a focus on injury prevention and sustainable training strategies. She has also provided numerous lectures on performer wellness, injury prevention, and cross-training to a variety of performing arts disciplines.
Outside of work, Sofie enjoys weightlifting, dancing,crafting, reading, and spending time with her two beagles.
